Long-distance move from New Jersey to Florida

This group of men were professional.

Our experience with OM Van Lines involved two trucks and six men. They showed up on time for the packing. Not an easy task coming out of Jersey City during the morning rush hour. Every piece of furniture was protected. There were no damages, no missing pieces. Two days later they again showed up on time at our new home. Again, not easy because they had to travel from Jersey City to eastern Long Island, about 90 miles. Unloading was swift with no issues. Furniture taken apart was re-assembled perfectly. This group of men were professional and knew their business. There were no issues from the start to the finish. I would use OM Van Lines again, without hesitation. The company office staff and the truck crews relieved any anxieties we had going into this stressful part of our lives. This company made the move easy. Use them!!

Steer Clear!!!

I will first start with the positive of this company. Gary the salesman was very polite and responded promptly to my phone call. The movers were great on both the NJ end and Alabama end. Aside from that, Steer clear of this company.

On the day of the move after packing all of our belongings onto the truck, they told us that it was going to be double what they estimated.

They low ball estimates to get you to go with their company.

Although Gary was very nice and followed through on all of my questions, at the end of the day he's just another shady salesman.

Their customer service representative was not any better. Michele from customer service refused to acknowledge their estimate was not even in the ballpark of what it should have been. She actually said that it should have been even higher than double the amount. We are reasonable people and understand that an estimate can change, but never by that amount. We were held hostage with no other way to get our belongings to Alabama.

So, if you want to use this dishonest company good luck. It has been two weeks, and we are still waiting for our sales rep to get back to us.

Move

I used OM to move New York to florida. I spoke with Charlie and William, who were great. Very knowledgeable and attentive. I had a horrible experience the first time I moved with a subcontractor company. Charlie gave me great pricing and some packaging free. The moving team was great worked non stop. Great price, they let me use credit card and Zelle. Great experience beginning to end. Very great full to the entire team. Just tell them everything you have and what you need them to do. Send pictures and videos. Thank you OM I would refer anyone to them. True good moving company.

Bait and Switch - Stay Away

Do not use this company. They will do multiple video calls to make you feel comfortable about the quote, yet on the day of move they will bump up the cubic feet requirements astronomically. I was give 3 different quotes over video call that ranged from 1300 cubic feet to 1600 cubic feet. On the day of move I was charged for 2500 cubic feet. However, when my items were delivered the content only occupied 1200 cubic feet. Stay away from this company. I have an ongoing complaint with Better Business Bureau as well. But it seems the company knows how to navigate those hurdles at consumer's dissatisfaction and cheating. STAY AWAY!!! Do not let George or Michelle convince you otherwise that the online reviews are fake or that customer added lot of items last minute. I have a proof that shows my content was less than 1200 cubic feet. When I submitted that proof, I was offered $500 to settle without them admitting any wrongdoing while they had over charged me by $2500.

Long-distance move from Miami, FL to Chicago, IL

Last minute fees - Cash Grab Company

I spoke with Kellie in sales and she was lovely. Unfortunately, my experience with OM Van Lines after I signed the contract was nothing short of miserable. During pickup, it was also slightly chaotic but that is not why I am writing this review. Less than 24 hours before my delivery was supposed to arrive in Chicago from my Miami-Chicago move, they informed me that there will be an additional $350 shuttle fee. I got in contact with a manager, Lisa, who was extremely rude, argumentative, and made up her own legislation for the reasoning of the shuttle fee. I asked her to point out where in the FMCSA and DOT websites the rules she was mentioning are. She responded with a screenshot of ChatGPT, which, if you have ever gone to school, would know that it is not always reputable. I did my due diligence and spoke with the Chicago DOT as well as other shipping companies around the city which said that she is making things up as well. I kept on pushing because I quickly caught on that it is a cash grab. She proceeded to say that she has to “make dinner for her children” and that “when you have your cdl and drive a 76’ truck for a living then come back and tell me what your opinion is.” Very unprofessional company, and treat you like nothing after you sign the contract and get through the sales people.

The cherry on top, the truck driver Alex Gol, comes into the loading dock with my items. Most likely been informed by this Lisa character that I’ve been rude, he is stone cold. I tell him I can bring my stuff up to my apartment myself so that they cannot charge me for any other add-ons that they have. I told him “let me go upstairs to make sure my tv screen works” so I could plug it in. Fortunately for me it was fine, but I went back downstairs and he was gone. I called him, no response. Then I texted him and told him that he forgot his tip and he told me to Zelle him. What a joke! Mans wasn’t getting a tip regardless after the experience I had.

Cross country move

If i could give negative i would. Items lost(i.e. suits that were packed in a box,tv,bedframes). Boxes were opened. Son had to unload the truck as it was only the driver and no additional help. Was told " it happens". Filed a claim and have heard nothing since. We're very dismissive.

Use this company if you want more stress

Moving is stressful enough, but this "company" takes it to the next level. Doubling the initial cost, lying about delivery dates, rude customer service, only accepting cash or postal money orders when furniture finally arrives. They actually gave us the wrong amount due on delivery so the movers stopped taking our belongings off of the truck. We had to go running around on Veteran's Day when post offices and banks were closed, while the movers sat in the truck. They refused to use the credit card that we used when they initially picked up our furniture. They even quoted us as having to pay them an extra $650 a day if we did not come up with the cash on Veterans Day. They have no concern for their customers, only for the mighty dollar. Stay away at all cost. By the way, they market themselves as OM Van Lines until your belongings are on the truck and then they give you the contract with OM Logistics and Trucking LLC on the top (has a D- Better Business Bureau rating). Very shady.

I hired this company and was very pleased with them.

From begining to end, they are very professional and kind.

Worked with charley and william and michelle, who were all so so great.

Movers were very expereinced, professional and did a great job.

They really go above and beyond and bend to your requests which is very much appreciated.

GREAT SERVICE & GREAT PRICE

Great service and great price! Moved from Syracuse to Miami and I'm glad to report it was a great experience! From the initial quote to my delivery I felt like they were just easy to get in contact with and answer my questions when I needed an update to change pick-up dates. I've already recommended them to some family members. Felt relieved I made the right choice! Thank you Alex, and thank you OM Van Lines!

Long-distance move from New York to Florida

OM Van Lines will hold your belongings hostage

I recently had a horrifying experience with OM Van Lines that I feel compelled to share. Initially, our salesperson, Alex Frost, quoted us $3,375 for our out-of-state move, which seemed reasonable for a tightly packed 20 x 10 storage unit. However, once the truck was loaded and we were ready to leave, we were suddenly informed that the new price was just under $6,000!

This unexpected $2,500 increase was outrageous, especially since the company knew we were leaving that night for good and had no choice but to pay. When we challenged the additional cost, we were absurdly told it was due to the addition of a box of cleaning supplies, an ironing board, and totes. This explanation was completely unconvincing and felt like a blatant attempt to take advantage of our situation.

To make matters worse, the night before delivery (Saturday), we were informed that the 80-foot trailer (Note: section 3 of the Binding contract indicates customer should be able to accommodate a 53 ‘ trailer) would not fit on the road by our new home. We were told we would need to come up with an extra $1,500 in Cash within 18 hours or our furniture would be shipped back to New York, and we would be charged a substantially higher re-delivery fee. This last-minute cash demand put us in an impossible situation and added an enormous amount of stress leading to signing forms under complete duress with the only alternative of never seeing your belongings again.

In the end, we had to pay OM Van Lines a staggering $7,300 mostly in cash, far from sales rep Alex Frost’s calculation of $3,375 when we hired this “company.” To add insult to injury, several of our furniture pieces, including a vintage Bombay chest from my late mother, suffered severe damage and some of our boxes marked fragile were crushed and had footprints on them. This is no surprise, considering OM Van Lines uses day laborers from Craigslist to defer liability, and our items were loaded and unloaded by them four times during the NY to Florida move. The only bright spot was that the final two Craigslist day laborers were professional and more respectful of our personal belongings than any of OM Van Lines' employees.

Furthermore, OM Van Lines showed no concern for the condition of our items or the timing of their arrival. Their primary focus seemed to be on securing large cash transactions, regardless of the inconvenience and stress caused to us. Additionally, Michelle in customer service and Maria, the truck driver who shamed and intimidated me when we questioned being able to produce unplanned sums of cash on a Sunday. More specifically, OM’s idea of customer service is gaslighting the customer. Michelle will talk you in circles.

I would strongly advise against using OM Van Lines for your moving needs. Their deceptive pricing, unprofessional conduct, gaslighting, and last-minute demands for large sums of cash made an already challenging move far more stressful than necessary. Additionally, their use of Craigslist day laborers resulted in significant damage to our cherished belongings from deep furniture gauges to crushed boxes marked fragile with footprints as if damage was done deliberately.

There was a huge case in Florida several years back brought about by the AG that successfully targeted 10 companies for similar practices and it is appearing this company may have been one and reinvented itself with a new name given that under its current name has existed for three years despite their website claim they have been around for decades.

OM Van Lines is being given an opportunity to fix this issue with me. If they do not do so without further delay, I will pursue being made financially whole by them through whatever means necessary.

From their website:

1. **Highly Qualified Staff**:

-They use unvetted day laborers from Craigslist

2. **Honest and Flat-Rate Pricing**:

- This is a blatant lie, numerous customers have had their quoted rate tripled.

3. **100% Satisfaction Guaranteed**:

- OM’s idea of customer service is Gaslighting and intimidating their customers.
